Gratitude: The Missing Element that Instantly Overrides Negative Programming
Gratitude: The Missing Element as a Superpower
Support Your Body and Override Negative Programming
What if the most powerful tool for feeling good in your body was something you could choose in any moment, for free?
After 14 years of facilitating Access Consciousness, I've seen how much of what we call "how I feel" is actually old programming running in the background: the harsh inner commentary, the habit of criticising the body, the assumption that ease has to be earned. Gratitude is one of the simplest ways to interrupt all of it.
Why Choose Gratitude?
Gratitude isn't a reward for when life is going well. It's a choice you can make right now, and your body responds quickly. Think of something you truly appreciate and notice what happens: shoulders drop, breath deepens, chest softens. Research links regular gratitude practice with calmer nervous system activity, better sleep, and lower stress.
The Benefits of Gratitude as a Superpower
- It supports your body. Appreciation invites your body into a calmer, more open state.
- It interrupts negative programming. Your mind can't run self-criticism and genuine appreciation at full volume at the same time.
- It shifts your point of view. Gratitude moves your attention from what's missing to what's here, and from what's here to what's possible.
- It's always available. No equipment, no special setting, no waiting for a better day.
What Gratitude Does for Me
I've noticed that when I start my day with gratitude, it ripples out into everything that follows. Before I even get out of bed, I take a moment to appreciate:
- My body
- My comfortable bed
- The simple fact that I woke up
- Everything and everyone who will contribute to my day
By the time I get up, I'm more relaxed in my body and my day flows more freely. Nothing about my circumstances has changed, but the way I meet them has. That's why I call gratitude a superpower: it's a choice I can make every morning, and my body responds to it.
Is gratitude the missing element for you? Try it tomorrow morning: what's one thing you're grateful for before your feet touch the floor? Notice what your body does with it.
How Access Bars Supports My Gratitude
One of the tools I return to again and again is Access Bars, a gentle hands-on process I've been facilitating for many years. For me, it's like unplugging from the drama and upset of this reality. When I receive Bars, I notice the negative self-talk quieten, the heaviness lift, and a lot more space open up in my body and my life.
From that place of peace and ease, choosing gratitude becomes a default. It becomes natural, because there's simply less in the way. If you'd like to experience that for yourself, you're welcome to book a session; I'd love to be part of your journey.
